Now This is Good Weather!

It's becoming a tradition to go hiking on Martin Luther King Day. The weather was perfect.

Johnson's Canyon is a fun little hike, easy enough for kiddos. Macy was so excited that she had to wear her own backpack with her monkey in it. She kept saying she was going camping. Someday she'll figure out that if she was really going camping, Mom wouldn't be there.

We live in the coolest place!

This is going to be a long walk if we end up picking up every rock we see.

If you look close enough, you'll see two goats. A black on on the left and a white/brown one on the right.

These goats obviously don't usually live here. We're not sure if they were dropped off or if they just got loose somehow. Either way, they sure haven't forgotten how to climb.

Our neighbors caught up with us. This is the best picture we could get.

Macy really wanted her picture taken and even struck a pose.

We made it! Snack time.

Macy decided she didn't want to walk the entire way back. This is Sam, super happy about it and Macy refusing to look at the camera.

This is my favorite part of the trip. Everyone who knows Macy knows how precious her monkey blanket is. On the way back from the hike, we had the windows down. I remember warning Macy that she needed to make sure she hung onto her monkey and didn't swing it near the window. Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything at all. Sam and I were talking when all of the sudden we hear a loud shriek. We didn't even have to look, we knew exactly what happened. Macy said her monkey "flew" out the window. We laughed, and then turned around. Here's where we found it.
